Article I

Name

This Association formed the organization on March 2, 1946. This Association became the Certificate of Incorporation in the state of New York on June 8, 1981. This Association filed the Certificate of Amendment of under Section 803 of the Non-For-Profit Corporation Law on February 23, 2004. This Association was approved by Internal Revenue Service to be recognized for Section 501(c)(3) on March 23, 2004. The name of this Association shall be known as the Eastern Athletic Association of the Deaf, Incorporated (EAAD).

Article II

Affiliation

This Association may be affiliated with national sports organization(s) of the deaf serving similar goals and objectives of the Association.

Article III

Objects

The purpose of this Association is: To foster and improve deaf athletics throughout its territory in accordance with the standards and under the rules and regulations prescribed by the national sport organization.

To protect and promote the mutual interests of the member clubs of the deaf.
To institute, regulate and award athletic championship of this Association.
To conduct annual regional basketball and softball championship tournaments.
To send the basketball and softball championship teams to represent this Association to annual national basketball and softball tournaments.
To establish regional goals athletic activities and encourage attainment of the goals.

Article IV

Territory

The basketball territory under the jurisdiction of this Association shall include New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania with the exception of the environs of the cities of Pittsburgh and Erie, Delaware, Maryland, Washington, DC and environs of Northern Virginia: counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun.

Article V

Executive Board

President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer of this Association shall be composed of the Executive Board.

Article VI

Board of Directors

The management of the affairs of this Association shall be vested to be Board of Directors composed of the Executive Board, Publicity Director and Tournament Director who shall have the power to make such decisions as it deems necessary for the betterment of this Association.

The softball territory under the jurisdiction of this Association shall include New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania with the exception of the environs of the cities of Pittsburgh and Erie, Delaware, the environs of Baltimore, Frederick and Montgomery counties in Maryland and
the rest of Maryland, which the residents may choose to participate in this Association or southeast regional.

Article VII

Membership

The memberships shall be available to bona-fide clubs and team franchises who apply through proper channels on a voluntary basis and who agree to comply with this Association´s Rules and Regulations.

Article VIII

Meetings

The regular meeting of the Executive Board and the Board of Directors shall be held at the time of the Championship Tournament.
