Ira had been actively associating with EAAD for fifteen years. Ira served as secretary–treasurer
two years and president for two terms. He was commissioned as the official recorder. The NYC Union League appointed Ira to chair the successful EAAD basketball tournaments in New York City
in 1976. Since 1946, Ira complied the EAAD basketball score boxes every year until 1974.
He wrote two books, 35 Years of AAAD Basketball Tournament Highlights and 50 Years of AAAD Basketball Tournament Highlights. Both are
selling successfully. Ira was president of
NYC Union League for five years.
